Unbearable Moment - essay for Reducing Stigma of Mental Illness catalogue“An unbearable moment of self-recognition and self-differentiation,” by Gayle Clemans

In 2015, I was invited to write a catalogue essay for a Seattle City Hall exhibition titled, “The Incredible Intensity of Being Human: Seattle Artists Examine the Stigma and Silence Surrounding Mental Illness.” It was one of the most personally significant pieces of writing that I have done to date, combining art historical research, contemporary social and aesthetic analysis, and my own reflection on familial history.

Available for purchase via Amazon and other outlets.

In addition to longer essays on art, I have written gallery guides for the Bellevue Arts Museum and Method Gallery, Seattle.

I am available to write art historical, critical, and introductory essays. Please contact me for work samples and price structures.
